This policy explains how the Backlinks Sleuth browser extension (“the extension”) handles data. It applies to anyone who installs the extension in the Chrome browser.

What the extension does
The extension analyzes the backlink profile of any domain you enter, using the DataForSEO Backlinks API. It shows the data in a clean new-tab interface: domain-level metrics, top backlinks, referring domains, and an optional side-by-side comparison when you enter two domains. It can also export the results to CSV or PDF. This is its single purpose.

Data stored on your device
The extension stores the following data locally in your browser, in Chrome’s local storage area:

The DataForSEO email address and API key you enter in Settings (if you choose to use the extension).
A short-lived cache of recent analysis results, so re-opening a domain you’ve already analyzed doesn’t re-charge your DataForSEO balance.
The most recent domains you analyzed (so the history list in the input field works).
This data is stored on your own device. It is not sent to me, and it is not uploaded to any server I control.

Network requests the extension makes
The only network request the extension makes is to DataForSEO — either https://api.dataforseo.com (production) or https://sandbox.dataforseo.com (if you toggle Sandbox Mode in Settings). Each Analyze click sends three HTTPS requests to DataForSEO using your own API key. DataForSEO’s handling of those requests is governed by its own privacy policy and terms of service.

Two small JavaScript libraries (jsPDF and jsPDF-AutoTable) are bundled inside the extension and used only when you click “Export PDF”. They run entirely inside your browser and do not contact any network.

Sandbox Mode
The extension includes an optional sandbox toggle. If you turn it on, requests go to DataForSEO’s sandbox endpoint instead of production. Sandbox responses are dummy data designed for development. The toggle is off by default and you can flip it back at any time in Settings.

Your DataForSEO credentials
If you enter a DataForSEO email address and API key into the extension, those credentials are stored locally on your device in Chrome’s local storage. They are used only to make analysis requests on your behalf, directly to DataForSEO. They are not transmitted to me, and they are not stored on any server I control.

What I collect and receive
I do not receive, collect, or store any data from the extension. The extension does not send your credentials, your analysis inputs, your DataForSEO responses, or your export contents to me or to any server I operate.

Web history and tracking
The extension does not read or track your general browsing activity. It runs as a new tab — it does not inject scripts into other pages, read page content, or use cookies. It does not use advertising identifiers or third-party analytics. The only network endpoints it talks to are api.dataforseo.com and sandbox.dataforseo.com.

How to clear your data
You can remove all stored data by uninstalling the extension. Chrome will delete everything the extension stored in local storage, including your DataForSEO credentials and any cached analyses.

Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. If I do, I will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
